Enhance Efficiency and Reduce Infectious Aerosols in Your Dental Office with the HVE Suction Dental Mirror
Recent studies have highlighted that dental offices fall among the highest-risk environments for the transmission of COVID-19 and other airborne diseases. The close face-to-face interaction with patients, exposure to bodily fluids, and the aerosolization of these fluids during routine dental procedures all contribute to heightened risks for dental professionals, staff, and patients alike.
Extensive research has demonstrated that proper high-volume suction during dental procedures can eliminate over 90% of aerosols generated in the process. The use of High Volume Evacuation (HVE) has been proven to significantly reduce aerosols and spatter, thereby decreasing the transmission of communicable diseases from patients to staff and clinicians.
Studies also indicate that aerosol particles containing infectious agents tend to remain within 36 inches of the patient’s face during procedures—precisely within the working area of dental professionals. These aerosolized particles and spatter pose a serious health risk to anyone operating within this proximity.
To mitigate these risks, the M7 HVE Mirror provides a straightforward and cost-effective solution for protecting your practice. This innovative dental mirror integrates continuous suction with 20 strategically placed HVE holes around the lens and on the back of the mirror head, effectively controlling dental aerosols while maintaining standard functionality. By simply connecting the M7 HVE Mirror to your existing HVE valve, it can be seamlessly incorporated into your practice in seconds.
While reducing aerosols is not the sole precaution necessary in dental offices, implementing the M7 HVE Mirror alongside other recommended PPE measures is a proactive step toward safeguarding the health of your staff and patients. Empower your dental practice by maximizing the potential of the tools you already use and prioritizing safety with effective aerosol reduction methods, backed by documented research.

How to care for your mirror
Our mirror handles have an average life span of 300 autoclave cycles with Class B autoclaves at 135 degrees centigrade. But even so, It's easy to give your mirrors TLC to make it last longer:
1. Put the cover on after use, before washing, during soaking and sterilization and in storage.
2. Avoid dropping the mirrors.
3. Prior to patient use, make sure that the mirror lens is secured in place. Please check carefully if the lens are placed properly to avoid the lens popping out of the handle. Please make sure the lens is flushed into the handle. Please tap the head of the mirror to check if the lens will loosely pop out. If this is so, please get a new handle already.
4. Use the recommended solutions to clean and disinfect the mirrors (ex. Enzymatic solution)
5. Always pack the mirrors in autoclave pouches and avoid the mirrors to touch the hottest areas of the autoclave.
6. For new mirrors, do not remove the lenses without prior autoclave sterilization.
7. For M1 Light source, please use rechargeable AAA batteries and avoid leaving batteries in the module. Never forget to remove after use. Never soak in Liquid and Never Autoclave or sterilize. Avoid dropping them as well. Like any light source, bulbs can break when dropped. Be careful.
When your mirror handle has aged and gone through a lot of autoclave cycles, it is time to change the handle.
Disinfection and Sterilization
Pre washing with dishwashing soap and smooth, soft sponge or even just the handler's fingers may be done to remove surface debris.
Composites and Bonding agents that may have stuck on the mirror may be cleaned with alcohol based rapid disinfectant such as Deconex Solarsept.
We recommend Deconex Instrument Plus to soak the mirrors in.
The whole mirror can be soaked in enzymatic solution and can be autoclaved except for M1 Bright LED light source module and batteries.
For M1, PLEASE REMOVE THE LIGHT SOURCE IMMEDIATELY AFTER USE OR PRIOR TO SOAKING/WASHING OR DISINFECTION. Light source module can be wiped with disinfectant alcohol wipes ONLY.
For M7, It is best to suction water after use to help clean walls of the hose, before soaking in enzymatic solution. Please use a hose/straw brush to avoid biofilm build up inside the hose's walls and the lumen of the M7 handle while cleaning with enzymatic solution.
You may also remove the mirror lens to thoroughly clean the handle of blood, plaque debris and saliva.
Mirror Replacement
WHEN DO YOU KNOW WHEN IT IS TIME TO REPLACE THE MIRROR?
